An interactive hands-on class: learn everything you need to know about culinary herbs and make a clay herb stripper to use with the fresh herbs you’ll be growing.
What you’ll learn
Identification and uses of common culinary herbs (basil, parsley, cilantro, thyme, rosemary, mint, chives, oregano, sage)
Best growing conditions: light, soil, watering, containers vs. beds
Seasonal care: fertilizing, pruning, overwintering, pest and disease basics
Harvesting and storage
What you’ll make
A handmade clay herb stripper sized to fit your fingers and different stem thicknesses
Instructions for drying and curing the clay so your herb stripper is ready to use at home
All materials provided (clay, tools, handouts).

Learn the basics of when and how to start seeds in this practical, hands-on session. We’ll also cover when and how to transplant seedlings into the garden.
What you’ll learn-
Choosing seeds: which crops to start indoors and which to direct-sow
Calculating sow dates for your area and season
Proper sowing technique for good germination
Light and heat needs for seedlings; using grow lights and heat mats effectively
Watering and feeding: how much, how often, and best practices
Hardening off: step-by-step schedule to acclimate seedlings to outdoor conditions
